Museum

Founded in 31/08/1977, the Archeology Association formed in Rajnandgaon district, whose registration number 44, is dated 07/08/1980. This is a senior institution in the archaeological institutions formed in the state. This is a important organization approved, guided and funded by the then Commissioner,Archeology & Museums, Government of Madhya Pradesh.Formerly its headquarters were Indira Arts and Music University, Khairagarh.According to the instructions of the government, from 1987-88 it operates in one chamber of the district headquarters, Rajnandgaon district office building. Presently the newly constructed Building for District Archeology Association and the Museum is inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr.Raman Singh ji on 11/08/2008.

District Archeology Museum is divided into five galleries-

  2. Statue Gallery
  3. Archaeology Gallery
  4. Arms Gallery
  5. Tribal / Folk Arts Gallery

The plaster cast (replica) of the main archaeological site of the Rajnandgaon district (ancient Shiv Mandir Gandai) has been displayed in the main part of the veranda of the first entrance gallery and on the edge of the wall the photographs / map of Chhattisgarh State and Rajnandgaon district / archaeological sites / principals is depicted.

In the second image gallery, the statue of 45 ancient statues and 05 metal statues and stucco cast stored in Rajnandgaon district is displayed.

In the third archeological class, the ancient coins, currencies, and stone tools, fossils and the mineral deposits of the district have been displayed.

In the fourth Arms-weapon Vithika, Rajnandgaon princely weapon is displayed.

Tribal / Folk related related jewelry, costumes, hunting equipment, goddesses and instruments of Rajnandgaon district have been displayed in Pancham tribal / folk art..
